Outside the Classroom Environment Our farm is all about learning. As a part of the Claremont Colleges, The Farm offers students, faculty, staff, and community members with a unique learning experience. Whether it's developing our own alternative methods or exploring those of others, we are constantly breaking the boundaries of the normal classroom experience. Students working at the farm are presented with the opportunity to learn everything from how to grow organic tomatoes or set up a vermiculture composting system to grant-writing and working with the college administration and city officials. Since the farm's beginning,
students have explored projects such as biodiesel conversion, writing a grant
for our very own solar panel, cob building, curriculum development, and
building the very first Earth Dome of Los Angeles County.
